Costus gingers consist of both Basal (bottom) flowering and Apical (end of stem) flowering plants. The green beehive and borneo red cone are types of costus that tend to be classed with their zingiber cousins.

Crepe gingers are part of the costus family - the varigated crepe is magnificent with its green and white velvety varigated leaves, red stem that twists and turns as it grows and large red bract that sends out white flowers that are nearly orchid shaped. Once again growing all the way down to Brisbane and Norther NSW Costus will spread and fill an area well with all stems producing flowers.
